Frequently Asked Questions

How does PDF password protection work?

Upload your PDF and set a password. The tool encrypts the file server-side using standard PDF encryption. Anyone trying to open the protected PDF will need to enter the correct password first.

How strong should my password be?

Use at least 4 characters, but longer passwords with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols are more secure. Avoid common words or predictable patterns. The tool requires a minimum of 4 characters.

Can I remove the password later?

Yes! Use the Unlock PDF tool to remove password protection. You'll need to know the current password to decrypt the file and save an unprotected copy.

Is my PDF data secure during encryption?

Files are processed server-side only for the duration of the encryption operation and are automatically deleted afterward. Neither your files nor passwords are stored permanently on our servers.
